Dear Social Worker...

There is something we need to say. Thank you for everything you do.
Last week, I had the privilege of being invited to the UK House of Lords for a social care event, and as I walked through the buzzing corridors on Budget Day, it struck me that the very conversations happening around us were going to inform your own roles, actions and experiences. Decisions are being made at national level that ultimately filter through into day-to-day practice.
And it hit home just how crucial your role is, and the uphill battles you have to fight.
As someone who has been working in our care sector for many, many years, I've had the privilege of witnessing the incredible impact you make every single day.
Social workers like you are the unsung heroes, facing challenges head-on and making a real difference in the lives of those who need it most. From advocating for children in need to supporting adults navigating complex systems, your dedication and compassion shine through in everything you do.
We know it's not an easy job. You're often faced with heavy caseloads, bureaucratic red tape, and emotionally taxing situations. Yet, despite the hurdles, you show up with resilience and determination, ready to fight for what's right.

We recognize the toll this work can take on you. Burnout is a real concern, and it's something that weighs heavily on our collective mind as a sector. That's why it's so important for us, as partners, to support you in any way we can. Whether it's advocating for better resources, providing opportunities for self-care, or simply saying thank you for your hard work, know that we're here for you .
We want you to know that your efforts don't go unnoticed or unappreciated. You are the heart and soul of the care sector, and the impact you have is immeasurable.
So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for everything you do. Your dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment inspire us every single day.
Keep making a difference, keep fighting for what's right, and know that you are truly appreciated.
Love,

An important message to a vital group of people that work to support those in society who can need it most. Their work changes lives every day and I agree that appreciation for social workers is not where it rightfully should be. Thanks Ashleigh

8 个月That’s lovely Ashleigh - like you I feel social workers are one of the most undervalued groups around. So easily stigmatised and blamed while working in systems that often make no sense. Yet they turn up, turn on their hearts and try to make something better happen - day after day.
