Dear School Friends... I still Remember....!!

I still remember

Setting up the alarm

for starting my day at 6 am

and snoozing off it multiple times.

I still remember

my mom screaming out loud and

banging by washroom door when I am

busy inside playing with the soap foam.

I still remember

my dad polishing my black shoes

and strapping my school tie

when am hustling to tuck in my school shirt.

I still remember

getting on to the school bus and

walking straight to the window seat in the back row

as if it was reserved to me for the next 10 years.

I still remember

climbing those 5 stored building and walking on those long corridors -which never felt so long,

sharing my vampire dreams to that chubby friend.

I still remember

entering the classroom with “Ma’am may I come inside” and walking through the aisle

and staring at my infatuated crush.

I still remember

the scolding’s of my PT sir for not standing

height wise in the morning assembly and my teacher saying “This is the worst batch I had ever seen."

I still remember

when the bell for the interval strikes,

Maggie will be waiting for me and all those eyes

into my tiffin box thirstily looking for what’s new?

I still remember

snatching and stealing my friends textbook

and gossiping and giggling about his girl

when he doesn’t give me his tiffin box.

I still remember

drawing those crummy images of

my principle on the washroom walls and

comparing my school every time with others.

I still remember

everyone playing during the games period

and me and my bestie discussing

our future by sitting at one corner.

I still remember

walking with a gang of friends to

propose my girl with a Kit Kat chocolate

but ending up gazing at her in fear.

Dear school friends,

I still remember all those funny moments spent with you I won’t let them vanish easily. Now I may not text you or you may not call me because of our own priorities but let us not break the chain of our friendship.
