"Dear John": An Ode to Lennon & McCartney (A light-hearted retrospective)

"Dear John": An Ode to Lennon & McCartney (A light-hearted retrospective)

"HELP!" "Give Me Some Truth". John, "All You Need is Love".?FYI, you chose to do drugs. "Tell Me Why".

If you "Ask Me Why", he was living on "Borrowed Time". If they could have just "Come Together" "Eight Days a Week", maybe there would have been less time to escape "The Night Before" with "Eleanor Rigby" to "Strawberry Fields Forever" in a "Yellow Submarine". Maybe a "Golden Slumber" would allow him to "Give Peace a Chance". Maybe, just maybe he could "Grow Old with Me". Apparently not.?

John, try calling out "Good Day Sunshine" and you might feel better. Or "Good Morning, Good Morning!" Maybe it is "Good Night" after all. Who knows? For now, it is just "Goodbye". God knows you and your "Woman" have got "A Ticket to Ride"!

"When I'm Sixty Four" next year, I will raise a drink and thank you, Paul, George and Ringo for bringing literally decades of joy to my life in the form of poetry and song even as it is beginning to feel, in the moment, like we are "Back in the USSR". Is "Revolution" in our future? (Read the lyrics - apropos to our times. Contrary to popular belief, they were not promoting revolution in this particular song.)

?While you "Can't Buy Me Love", you also "Don't Let Me Down". I am thankful. "That Means a Lot".?

For now, I will return to "The Long and Winding Road". To find my own path as it has definitely been "A Hard Day's Night" recently. I will carry your songs as companions along the way and get by with "A Little Help from My Friends".

It seems like just "Yesterday". Doesn't it?

?"The End"

?

For the record, everything in "quotes" is a Lennon or Lennon/McCarthy song... a fraction of their combined body of work. More popular today than 50 to 60 years ago when first played on AM radio. I loved it then. I love it and understand it more today. Prolific.

Have some fun for the morning. Repost this and add a line or two using your favorite beatles song(s) as an add on to comment. Let's see if we can create a wave for fun! You deserve a frivolous and mindless break!
