Dear government, don't let a good crisis go to waste !
Terrorist attacks, a budget deficit, ... our chief economist's publishing is not only very timely, but also to the point when he says "It may take a crisis to create the political will to act".
A sound GDP growth would solve a lot of today's problems, but the means for achieving that are not at all obvious. The greatest leverage is to be found in policies and practices that encourage a flexible, well-trained, and resilient workforce.
Rather than looking at the overall unemployment rate, see how the "Women in Work Index", the "Golden Age Index" and the "Young Workers Index" reveal how the Nordic countries are outperforming us.
