Dear god have I turned into a tree hugger?

Is it really 32 months since I took delivery of my first electric car, the Leaf? They say time passes when your happy and it really has for me. Ive been a petrol head for decades, having had Mercs, Jags, Rovers, Audis, in fact you name it and Ive had it so the idea that I could fall in love with a tree hugger of a car was ridiculous yet here I am ordering my second Leaf and Ive never stayed with the same model ever! I test drove the LEAF as part of the discussions with Edgars about their stand at the 2013 Festival and ordered it right away because the driving experience was so unique. That and the appeal of helping Polar bears, dolphins and squirrels every time I go for a drive. My first thought was that the car looked a bit retro with its big bum and googly headlamps, but the technology is anything but. The first thing that struck me was the lack of a gear lever, the space being replaced by a very simple slide button giving you two options, Forward or reverse and it’s the lack of gearing that makes the car so smooth. The transfer of power to the wheels is uninterrupted by gear changes making acceleration effortless. The second thing you notice is the ipad style control panel for the radio, sat nav, air conditioning etc. Being a techie fan I love this and the experience only got better when I found out you could dial into the car on a cold morning and set it to warm up before you leave the house. Likewise on stuffier days, I can dial in to unlock the fridge it becomes when the air con is turned up. Pretty much everything else is conventional and that’s one of the real plus’s for the Leaf. Nissan claim 120 miles on a full charge but that’s without any toys on and I do like my toys which on the Techna model are present in droves. Four heated seats, a Bose Sound System, Bluetooth, reversing cameras and even a heated Steering wheel would you believe and then there's the ever tempting button to switch from ECO mode to,, well NONE ECO I suppose as Nissan have just called it ECO. Driving in ECO roughly halves the power from the batteries to the drive and with it selected its like driving my old Volvo. When you switch it off it unleashes the Leafs hidden Ferrari, and the acceleration, especially for overtaking is breathtaking. The only flaw if any is that its perhaps too silent allowing me to hear my mum breaking wind where in the past I could only guess! I keep getting asked if I would swap back to a normal car and the answer is emphatically NO. Ive had Jags, Mercs, Alfas, and Audis but none of them ever gave me the pleasure the Leaf does every time I drive it. You can keep your pistons and gearboxes baby because Ive joined the Revolution and long may it last!

8 年have you ever had a sierra, very ease to put in reverse, drives like a dream, plenty of room, my she hair her rah you could count on how many times it was driven, no noise, only when i slip the gear stick, and smooth on the bumps, since then, i cannot drive, as i am partially blinded, through keep going out at night, now i seem to have no choice, in going into small cars, and it is hard to be comfortable in. the fresh air does some good like a walk in the park, when i feel so happy or having my photo's done my first thing is searching for a tree, which gives me alot of energy, for the whole day, and it is free, he he he .......Mazza!
