Dear Friend,

Dear Friend,

I hope this letter finds you well. I’ve been reflecting a lot on the world we live in, especially on the realities that families face every day. The weight of those reflections brought me to write to you, because this topic is too important to keep to myself. It’s about something I’ve seen time and time again—the travesty of families left unprotected in the event of a disability, terminal illness, or the passing of a loved one.

You and I both know how unpredictable life can be. We’re building businesses, supporting teams, and pursuing success, but we’ve also seen firsthand that life doesn’t always go according to plan. Families, even those who plan carefully, are often blindsided by the unexpected, left vulnerable to financial ruin, emotional devastation, or even losing the home they’ve worked so hard to build.

What’s heartbreaking is that so much of this pain is preventable. Proper protection—whether it’s life insurance, disability coverage, or critical illness policies—can be the shield families need in their darkest hours. Yet, too many people don’t have this protection in place. They may not even know where to start or they believe they’ll be fine without it until reality hits. I’ve had conversations with people who didn’t think it was “the right time” or “too expensive.” But what’s more expensive than losing everything when they’re least prepared for it?

This isn’t just about financial protection—it’s about peace of mind, dignity, and the ability to grieve without being burdened by overwhelming financial pressures. It’s about giving families the chance to rebuild after a loss, rather than being crushed by it.

What’s even more frustrating is the stigma or avoidance that surrounds this conversation. It’s uncomfortable, yes—but not talking about it doesn’t make the risk go away. We need to help families get ahead of it, not shy away from it.

As business leaders, we have a responsibility to not only ensure our businesses are well-protected but also to advocate for the protection of those we lead and serve. I see so many people doing everything right in life—working hard, saving, planning for the future—yet leaving their families vulnerable because they haven’t taken this crucial step.

I’m sharing this with you because I know you understand the power of taking care of the people in your orbit. You lead with care, and I believe together we can have real conversations that inspire people to take action, to safeguard what they’ve worked so hard for.

I know it’s not easy to think about the worst-case scenarios, but we owe it to our families, and to ourselves, to prepare for them. When we put protection in place, we’re not just investing in policies; we’re investing in the futures of the people we love most.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. I’d love to hear your thoughts on how we can continue spreading awareness and making sure no family is left unprotected.

Warm regards,
