Dear Employer,
"Investing in your employees is your company's best investment." -E. Davenport

Dear Employer,

I thought I would take the time to explain some vital things to you. Things we thought you already knew when we accepted this position. We are talented. We have worked our asses off to get to this point. We got good grades, went to college, join organizations, sacrificed and studied hard, graduated, got a career. Then, switch careers, acquired more education. We are more than capable.

Since childhood, most of the programming in the 90s were focused on learning, growing, and exploring. We didn’t have programming just for entertainment purposes as we do now. Our parents wanted us to learn and grow. We spent our time after homework outside. Our childhood education made us creative, autonomous, and altruistic.

Employers want us to do what we are told; to do it without contradictory declarations and questions. Unfortunately for them, Millennials weren’t created that way.

Somewhere in our society, we are taught that conformity is better, stronger, safer. “There’s safety in number.” While conformity has its perks, we are not afraid to stand against the gain to make a difference. We dare to be different. We embrace our differences. We use them to our advantage. And we go and get what we want!

The same problems persist in every generation. The same old false clichés and habits that kill human potential and creativity. Especially when it comes to human relations. We believe we are the solution. A brighter day is upon us.

The last outside generation, aka the Millennials, is taking over. We were empowered from childhood to make a difference in this world. Thank Captain Planet. We have morals and a mission. Thank Pinky and the Brain. Our freethinking minds and beliefs are here to disrupt and shake up the status quo.

75% of Global WorkForce will be Millennial in 2025, and Millennial Turnover costs the U.S. Economy $30.5 billion annually? Well, we don’t care what we have to do. We just know that we have to do it.

Professionals are grown adults and not children. We choose to come to work every day. As experienced professionals, we accepted your position, and at any time, we can accept another. Realize that as a leader or manager, you can’t force anyone to do anything. You will get better results if you ask.

Employees are everywhere. There are more employees than companies. Why would I want to work for a company that doesn’t trust or respect me? I am not a job holder. I am a valuable, proficient professional. All of my education and experiences can be useful someplace else. If you tell me I am a part of the team, teach me how to build the dream.

Oleg Vishnepolsky said, “It doesn’t make sense to hire chess players, and then treat them like chess pieces.” Love us or lose us the way we are. We will not be your pawn.

Sincerely,

The Millenials
