Dear CSS Aspirants 2021 ( Who approached me)
There are some suggestions keeping in view the various experiences of our Civil officers since 1982- Aspirants are advised to go through the syllabus thoroughly and try to focus on preparation of compulsory subjects, un the beginning . Compulsory subjects basically provide you basis to decide your optional subjects. If you have not prepared the compulsory subjects, you will definitely go for optional subjects on recommendation of others. This will result in low score in written exam. As per my opinion, first of all prepare the compulsory subjects keeping view their importance on following grounds:
i) English Essay preparation will enable you to make an analysis in the light of information gathered therein. ( How to prepare English Essay--- I will discuss later accordingly)
ii) English Precis and Grammar paper will help you to write error free English. ( Tips will be given to Aspirants : How to write a scoring Precis.
iii) Current Affairs and Pakistan Affairs provide you the background knowledge of historical events and their chronological details. You can get input for Essay paper where you need qualitative material to compose an Essay of 3000 words .
iv) Islamic study will enable you to analyze matters in the light of Islamic teachings. The references of Holy Quran, its teachings historical perspective etc will provide you qualitative material as an input for Essay and other topics of Pakistan Affairs and Current Affairs
v) General science and ability paper will improve your analytical skills coupled with inculcating the basic scientific information in your mind.
In this way, by preparing the above mentioned compulsory subjects, you will be mature enough with reference to CSS preparation to opt the optional subjects of your interest. Do not opt the subjects blindly on recommendation of CSP officers and other mentors. This is because, if a guy opts Mathematics / Physics/ Chemistry and gets 170 to 180 marks out of 200; he will definitely recommend his own choice. But if you are not a science student; how can you go for for these subjects? So, it is recommended that opt subjects as per your interest/inclination after going through the syllabus and past papers of these subjects.
