Dear 30-Somethings, It’s not too Late to Succeed!
I receive messages daily, from people in their thirties who feel they’ve missed their opportunity to find success. It’s not too late! I spent most of my thirties working with my employees at Vitabiotics and helped it grow into the company it is today. Thirty is usually the age where people accept their lot: they settle in, build a family and stay put in their jobs. It doesn’t have to be that way.
Your twenties are just the beginning
For a lot of people, their twenties are where it’s all supposed to happen. In today’s world of social media and instant gratification, many entrepreneurs expect to start a business, turn over millions of pounds of profit by the third year, and be ready to retire by the age of 29. This is not a sustainable mindset and may be responsible for the increased amount of burnout we’re seeing from young people. In my opinion, your twenties is the time where you should be experimenting with what you want to do and who you want to be. This could include examining your social circles and embracing the more positive influences in your life while cutting out the negatives. You should also use this time to nail down what it is you enjoy about your career and what you want out of life. Once you have a concrete plan, you’ll be in the best position to make your thirties a success.
From there, you can start to build on everything you learned over the last decade. To make the most of your time, you now need to concentrate on what you really want to do. This is a good time to consider a career change to an industry that you enjoy. Hone in on what you want out of your career and your life and work to push it to the next level. This can mean embracing uncertainty and spending late nights in the office but I promise that it will pay off. It may seem like a cliché but if you truly enjoy what you do, then all the hard work won’t seem that hard.
Take advantage of your thirties
Your thirties are also a good time to start thinking differently about money. It’s important to try to save and build capital but you should also be thinking about how to make your money work better for you in the long term. This could mean investing in stocks or companies or even buying a rental property if that’s something you can afford.
With all this in mind, I want to leave you with one message: it’s never too late to find success. Over the course of my career I’ve met many incredible businesspeople who didn’t start their business or transition to their ideal role until their thirties and even forties. Your career is what you make of it and if you have the drive to achieve your goals. Anything is possible.
A valuable perspective on entrepreneurship in the digital age! Success doesn't always come overnight, and your journey can thrive well into your thirties and beyond. Here's to embracing the wisdom and experience that come with age and making each decade our best.

4 年Thank you Tej Lalvani, this is a great reminder! Especially since the Covid-19 pandemic, a lot of people were in a state of shock at the sudden change of their routine. Moving on, it's been great to see so many people have used the opportunity to reflect, adapt and enhance their current lifestyle with new skills and appreciation of the smaller things in life like loved ones and health. I was first put on the Furlough scheme when it all started and now I am redundant, but I am not disheartened by this at all. Instead, I'm seeing this as NEW ADVENTURE to look forward to! ?? I'm now looking to find a job abroad, leave the UK and eventually settle abroad! ???? Never let anyone or anything limit you. You have 1 life, live it on your terms! ??
