Dear 2023

Dear 2023

Dear 2023,

As I reflect upon the events of the past year, I am compelled to share my journey and the valuable lessons you have taught me.

January marked the beginning of a challenging period, as I battled an eye infection. Little did I know at the time that this seemingly unfortunate circumstance would serve as a preparation for the trials that lay ahead. Particularly a significant incident that occurred this same month.

During a meeting with my bank manager, a man, with whom I unfortunately experienced a moment of sexism that left a lasting impact on me.

As I entered the meeting with an eye infection, I was already feeling physically uncomfortable. However, what transpired during the encounter was emotionally distressing. My bank manager, while searching for information about me online, made an inappropriate comment, stating that I looked better in photos than in person. This remark was not only unprofessional but also deeply disrespectful.

Experiencing such sexism in a professional setting was disheartening and served as a reminder of the challenges that women continue to face in various aspects of life. It highlighted the importance of addressing and combating gender biases that persist in our society.

Despite this unfortunate incident, I chose to rise above it and focus on my own resilience and strength.

I refused to let this encounter define me or hinder my progress. Instead, I used it as motivation to advocate for equality and to create a more inclusive environment for all.

The first six months of the year proved to be particularly arduous in my professional endeavors.?

I encountered numerous obstacles and setbacks that tested my resilience and determination.?

However, it was through these challenges that I discovered the depth of my inner strength.

Each hurdle I overcame served as a reminder that I possess the ability to persevere and thrive in the face of adversity. Amidst the difficulties, there were moments when tears streamed down my face, and I questioned whether I could endure any further. Yet, it was during these moments of vulnerability that I realized the truth behind the saying, "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger." ?

Each tear shed became a testament to my resilience and a catalyst for personal growth. These experiences also made me more selective in the people I trust and allow access to my life.?

The challenges I faced served as a filter, revealing the true nature of those around me. I learned to discern who genuinely supported me and had my best interests at heart.

This newfound discernment has become an invaluable asset, enabling me to surround myself with individuals who uplift and inspire me.

Moreover, I came to realize that the most reliable and steadfast support I can rely on is found within myself. Looking back, I am grateful for the tears I cried and the challenges I faced my dear 2023.

They have shaped me into a stronger, more resilient individual. These experiences have taught me the importance of self-reliance, the power of perseverance, and the significance of surrounding myself with trustworthy individuals.

And 2023, you took me places: Agadir, Miami, Cannes, New-York, Annecy, Milan, Durban, Cairo, Johannesburg, Rome, and you made me grow my network, live new experiences and for that I will always be grateful.

A glimpse of 2023: business trips and networking

I’m an entrepreneur, an engaged woman, and I will keep advocating for more diversity, for gender equity and I will keep speaking, sharing my expertise to empower the next generation.

I love quotes and I particularly love this one:

“Success is not measured in the amount of dollars you make, but the amount of lives you impact"

As I stand on the precipice of a new year, I cannot predict what 2024 will bring.

Good or bad, one thing I am certain of is that I am not the same person.

The experiences of 2023 have not only strengthened my personal resilience but have also fueled my entrepreneurial spirit. I am eager to channel my newfound strength and determination into my business ventures, knowing that I have the capacity to overcome any obstacles that may arise.

Furthermore, as I embark on this new year, I am excited to continue my journey as an engaged woman entrepreneur.

With unwavering commitment and a clear vision, I am ready to seize the opportunities that await me in 2024 and beyond.

Sincerely,

Mounia ARAM
