A new research report has accused Google of violating its promised standards when placing video ads on third-party websites, raising concerns around the transparency of the tech giant’s online advertising practices. According to Adalytics, around 80% of the time, Google fails to meet its own ad standards by placing ads in small, muted, automatically-played videos off to the side of low-quality sites, which don’t meet the standards for Google’s monetization. Adalytics gathered data from over 1,100 brands between 2020 and 2023, sharing that major global brands have been affected.?
