Deal breakers for NI Job Seekers
A new survey from NI Jobs has revealed that almost half of job seekers would refuse a job offer if they had a bad interview or a negative hiring experience.
These insights come as the NI unemployment rate reached a new record low of 2% - highlighting the competition for talent by local employers.
Over 930 job seekers took part in the research which highlighted some ‘red flags’ people tend to look for during the recruitment process.

The new record low for unemployment rates highlights the recruitment challenges that employers now face. Local businesses should be aware that a positive candidate experience is now a requirement of the recruitment process (although surely if should have been anyway?).
The survey also highlighted that the importance of a positive office environment, culture, flexibility and salary expectations, which all contribute to the employer brand, are things job seekers focus on and employers should focus attention on and regularly assess.
The number of advertised vacancies remains significantly above pre-Covid-19 levels. It is interesting to note the sectors with most significant rises in vacancies relative to pre-pandemic are:

6 个月My deal breakers would be the lack of location flexibility. I work much better from home than in an office where I get distracted all the time. I get the need for physical meetings and work sessions, but, in IT nowadays, I don't understand employers who don't do flexibility.
