Deadly tornado threat continues

Deadly tornadoes moved across the southern plains Monday night, mainly in Oklahoma. There have been almost two dozen tornado reports, the worst being in Barnsdall, Oklahoma, where widespread damage is reported.

The storms persist into early Tuesday, with several tornado watches expiring around 8 am CDT. As the system spawning storms slowly moves east, more watches are expected on Tuesday. Then, the system stalls a bit as it drifts to the south.

Here’s the two-day threat, according to the Storm Prediction Center:

SPC Convective Outlook for May 7 and May 8, 2024

Over 100 million people are at risk across the Ohio and Tennessee River Valleys. The risk is rated a level 3 out of 5, and it includes the potential for tornadoes, large hail, and damaging wind gusts.

Prepare your business!

The overnight storms caught some by surprise. However, WeatherCall clients received notification hours in advance when the SPC issued outlooks that included their areas and when watches were issued.

In some cases, when the SPC issued the rare “particularly dangerous situation” tornado watch, WeatherCall called to alert them of the severity of the situation. See more about the PDS watch here: https://youtu.be/-5o4fIUOguM.

Phone calls are one of three ways WeatherCall’s family of services instantly notifies you of danger. Texts and emails come with visual radar displays to help you fully understand where storms are and make the best safety decisions. Finally, our WeatherCall clients get the “all-clear” to know when the threat passes, reducing downtime and lost revenue.
