Deadly New Orleans attack feature appearing as danger of IS attacks in the US

The New Orleans attack represents the latest in a series of attacks and threats that have plagued the United States and its allies for decades. In the immediate aftermath of the attack.

A tragic Incident came to light on Wednesday in which a truck drove into a crowd on Bourbon Street in New Orleans’s French Quarter into a crowd of people celebrating the new year.

?What happened in New Orleans??

At about 3:15 am on Wednesday, a rented Ford F-150 pick-up truck drove high speed into a New Orleans crowd of New Year revellers.

After the car stopped the driver jumped out of the vehicle and fired at responding officers who shot back and killed him.

At least 15 people have been killed and 35 injured in this attack, among the wounded are two police officers who were hurt by the driver’s gunfire.

However, the suspect was killed during the firefight with the police and law enforcement.

New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell called the incident a “terrorist attack”. Meanwhile, the FBI is investigating what occurred early Wednesday when the vehicle drove into a crowd.

Who is Shamsud-Din Jabbar?

Shamsud-Din Jabbar a US-born citizen who lives in Texas. Jabbar was an Army Veteran. He was deployed to Afghanistan from February 2009 to January 2010 and his most recent address was in Huston.?

He studied at Georgia State University from 2015 to 2017, graduating with a degree in Computer Information Technology. Accountancy firm Deloitte confirmed. Jabbar was hired by the company in 2021 and allegedly worked for Ernst & Young.

Jabbar worked in various roles in the US Army including Human Resource and IT before he was discharged in 2015.

He was married three times and has children from two relationships. Court records relating to Jabbar's most recent divorce point to financial difficulties with his monthly expenses, including child support and his income.

Jabbar also appears to have worked in real estate holding a license that expired in 2023 he had a criminal record relating to theft.

What made the FBI probe events from a terror angle

The FBI confirmed the subject has been identified as 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar a US citizen from Texas.

According to officials On Monday 30th December 2024, Jabbar rented a white Ford F-150 truck in Huston, Texas through the car rental app Turo.

In one of the videos, Jabbar noted that he joined ISIS before this summer. Ria called the attack a planned “act of terrorism” Following the attack authorities recovered two explosive devices left in coolers in the Bourbon Street area.

According to Ria, Surveillance footage showed Jabbar placing the devices in the coolers those were the only devices recovered and both were rendered safe.

On Jan 2st 2025 According to ABC News, Bomb-making materials linked to them were recovered by FBI agents and local law enforcement Thursday Jabbar's last known residence was Huston, Texas.

The items were found when agents executed a search warrant at Jabbar's home in the small community of Greenpoint in north Huston. ??

The Vegas incident is likely separate.

A few hours later where a Tesla Cyber truck blew up outside a hotel owned by US President-elect Donald Trump. One person was killed and seven were injured in the incident. It remains unclear whether it was accident or deliberate.
