A Deadly Halloween Mass Shooting in Downtown Orlando, Florida Kills 2, Injured 7! ?A 17-Year-Old Boy is in Custody. The suspect?opened fire in the middle of thousands of people?packed into downtown Orlando for Halloween celebrations, killing two people and injuring seven ?others, Orlando police said.?? The teenage ?male suspect, who Smith said had previously been arrested for grand theft, has been taken into custody.

The victims were all between 19 and 39 years old, according to Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith in an?early press conference. The seven ?who were wounded are in stable condition, he said. The two who were killed have not yet been identified.? Seven people were taken to the Orlando Regional Medical Center, police said. Two of them are in critical condition.? People were shot in the head, in the leg, in the foot and another was trampled by the crowd.

Officers reported shots fired around 1:07 a.m. Friday morning in the area of Central Blvd and Orange Avenue, Smith said. Dramatic surveillance and a body cam video showed a massive crowd of thousands of people thronging in the streets for Halloween when one person seemed to gun down another, creating pandemonium, as thousands of bystanders rushed to get away.

Officers did not see the first shooting, but five of them were watching when the suspect appeared near Washington Street and Orange Avenue moments later and "shot multiple people," Smith said.? A 17-year-old male suspect, who Smith said had previously been arrested for grand theft in 2023, has been taken into custody

"Halloween is one of our busiest nights of the year, always is," Smith said, gesturing at the video screen. "We're doing anything from 50 to 100,000 people." At the time of the shooting,? there were about 100 police officers in the area, Smith said, which was why the shooter was taken down quickly. ?
