Deadline May 1st: Voice Your Opinion

There is no place on earth that blends the unique balance of a vibrant urban setting with easy access to amazing wilderness. Many who live in the central Wasatch Mountain area enjoy the opportunity to build a career (ski bums to executives and entrepreneurs) in the surrounding valleys and escape into the Wasatch for recreation or solitude. It is truly amazing that you can enjoy a professional or college sporting event, the symphony or ballet, and 30 minutes later be in a National Forrest or Wilderness Area. Countless people enjoy providing for their families and creating lasting lifestyles and memories by playing in these incredible mountains.

What will our mountains look like in 40 or 50 years? The population is expected to double. What development will happen in our pristine mountains? How do we make sure we have enough clean water? How will our transportation systems evolve? How will our environment be impacted? What will our recreation options look like? What happens to our economy? How will all this growth impact the way we and future generations live?

The Mountain Accord is a public process that seeks to make long-term decisions regarding the future of transportation, environment, recreation and economy related to the central Wasatch Mountains and surrounding communities in Salt Lake, Summit and Wasatch Counties. It is a collaboration between diverse public and private interests including state and local governments, federal agencies, and industry and grassroots organizations.  The comment period has been extended to May 1st, 2015.

If you are short on time and want to review a concise preservation minded opinion, please visit the Wasatch Backcountry Alliance "Get Involved" page at (https://wasatchbackcountryalliance.org/2015/04/22/wasatch-backcountry-alliance-submits-blueprint-comments-to-mountain-accord/).

You have influence over the evolution of this wonderful place we live! Please voice your opinion within Mountain Accord at MountainAccord.com and fill out the "Comment Form".  Your voice will impact what lies ahead for our wonderful central Wasatch Mountains!
