Later this month, employers will have new legal obligations to protect their workers from sexual harassment. Organisations will have to provide evidence that they have taken ‘reasonable steps’ – and failure to do so comes at a high price. The Worker Protection (Amendment of Equality Act 2010) Act gives employment tribunals new powers to boost compensation payouts by 25%.

The change in the law means that raising awareness of sexual harassment via policies, procedures and reporting tools will no longer be enough. As an employer, you have to be more proactive than that – and that means providing appropriate training as quickly as you can.
