29 years ago, I took an oath when I graduated from the Special Forces Qualification Course. We swore to free the oppressed. We learned how to support an insurgent population and overthrow the oppressive invasion. Ukraine is fighting for her life against a much larger army. This fight is precisely why the Green Berets were formed and developed.
The College of Remote and Offshore Medicine Foundation created the Damage Control Resuscitation—Ukraine course for the TCCC-CMC level. These medics need fundamental DCR skills because they shuttle casualties from the front line to the Stabilisation Points. They need more than just what is taught in the Combat Medic Course. These medics can work in the Stab Points and be the primary providers on the front line.
It was great to be back in Ukraine. This time, we ran a train-the-trainer programme so local healthcare professionals could independently run the DCR-U course.
This four-day course is a comprehensive continuation of the TCCC CMC. The CMC is a prerequisite for this course. We follow the Joint Trauma System's Clinical Practice Guidelines, with the tccc.org.ua/en website serving as a valuable resource due to its English and Ukrainian content. We use the DCR in PFC CPG as a baseline, which provides a wealth of references. We ensure our students are confident using the downloaded app to access additional content while treating their casualties.

We have been planning and designing this for several months, and we were profoundly lucky that the TCCC decided to do a data dump on the website with tons of teaching materials for all levels of TCCC and the CPGs.
After decades of service in EMS, I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to continue honouring the code I took 29 years ago. It is a privilege to be able to contribute to the training and development of our medics.

8 个月Really appreciate your and the college‘s work for Ukraine! I have seen myself that a remote medical influence in your practice makes a lot of sense and I‘ve been fortunate to be able to set up multiple people with CoROM education (CE courses, BSc, …) with great NGOs in Ukraine.
