De-Clutter Your Life When It’s a Mess

The ability to simplify means to eliminate the unnecessary so that the necessary may speak.

Live within your means. If you are earning a meager income, don’t buy a smartphone just to impress other people you don’t know. Save the money instead and buy a cheap laptop.

Start an online business that will earn you hundreds, thousands and perhaps, even millions of dollars. Do something that will get you out of debt, get you out of the 9 to 5 rat race, and take you to financial freedom.

Never allow yourself to be sad or angry. Unhappiness, anger or stress strains your life and weakens your health.

More than anything, you need your brains to think. Don’t put yourself in situations that will stress you.

Never allow yourself to lose your mind. It’s the worst form of disadvantage.

Throw away junk you don’t need.

Give it away.

There are many people who need it.

Your junk is another man’s blessing.

Give it to them and they will bless you.

Don’t waste time. Time is money. Time is not only precious but also the only limited resource. Use it wisely and it will reward you generously.

Be ambitious but don't be greedy

Ambition moves you towards your destiny.

Greed wastes resources, but more importantly, it can destroy you.

If your earnings increase, do not move to a new house. Remain where you are and put more savings at your disposal. Then when you have accumulated enough, go and buy your own house.

Don’t feed your body incessantly. You don’t need quantity — you need nutrients. The quality of your health does not depend on the quantity of food you eat — it depends on the nutritional quality of the food you eat. Give your body a break and even skip lunch sometimes or do intermittent fasting to allow your body to rest. It will also save you a ton of money.

Most people feed themselves from the neck down.

That explains why most people are obese these days, but very malnourished from the neck up. Feed your brain with the right stuff and you will not only improve your body health but also your brain health.

Get rid of those evil credit cards. I don’t have to tell you that credit cards are the way to dig your own financial grave.

Start tracking your monthly bill and keep an accounting record of your income and expenses. This can actually introduce new ideas to increase your income, save money, and cut taxes.

Thank you …Cut that cable cord. Many people are spending well in excess of $100 a month on cable television just to access 500 different channels.

Out of all those channels, most people watch 5 to 10 on average. Instead of having a cable TV bill, use free over-the-air stations which you don’t have to pay for.

Once you get used to it, you will never miss cable anyway. Without cable, you can go back to your old, reliable method of entertainment—talking to one another.

Sell your car and use public transport or ride a bicycle. I know this is difficult especially if you live in Africa where people like to show off their big cars just to look rich.

First, the big car is a fuel guzzler. It will not only guzzle your fuel but also your money. Besides, using public transport or riding a bicycle puts more money at your disposal, makes you healthier, and richer.

Start planning everything. Plan your finances. Plan your education. Plan for your life. Plan for your trips. Avoid doing anything without a plan. Generally, organize your life and things will begin to make sense.

Want to add word or two?

Use a set budget to buy the stuff you need — avoid buying stuff you don’t need. Avoid impulsive buying. It will only clutter your house and make you poorer.

Budget for your clothes.

Budget for your food.

Budget for your monthly expenses.

Don’t worry if you quarrel with people especially close family. Eventually, they’ll get used to it and become your disciples.

I’ve already talked about wasting time. Well, this time I say, avoid spending time with people who waste your time and are going nowhere. Find people who are going to the same destination as you and join them or join their groups. Join people who are more knowledgeable than you and can challenge you. You’ll find yourself moving faster in your life.

Your comment ….?

Donate books you no longer need to a school, library or charity. There’s someone else out there who can’t even afford books.

Preserve the environment. Don’t cut trees. They give you oxygen. Give/sell litter to a recycling plant.

Cook your own food. Avoid eating at hotels and restaurants. In fact, avoid eating junk food.

If you’re an adult, find a good life partner and get into a relationship. I know this may evoke controversy, but having a life partner actually saves you a lot of trouble.

 First, you share responsibilities.

Second, you don’t have to spend a lot of time and money with expensive friends at the pub.

 Thirdly, it saves you money.

Fourth, you get kids that will extend your dynasty.

Come to think of it, kids are not really expensive to maintain if you plan carefully.

And finally, your life partner will help you grow.

If you have kids, pay attention to what they're doing and eating on a daily basis and teach them about life and the most economical ways to live. Avoid buying toys and junk food even if they cry their heads off, and instead buy them books.

If you are ANYTHING like me then you find yourself more often that not FREAKING OUT about all the crap on your "to-do" list! I tell myself that I am going to say no and that I am going to simplify my life and that I refuse to let the "things" control my life....and I will do really good for a few weeks BUT I find myself right back here...in need of a serious purge!!

I am getting really tired of living that way and so I knew that this month had to be on how we can help each other SIMPLIFY our life....and I decided that it wasn't going to just be about the lists and the piles and the clutter but that it was also going to be about simplifying your heart and the "things" that fill up your time and mind!

One of the greatest lessons that I have learned and accepted is that LIFE IS A MESS. Chaos personified. It is crazy and cluttered and unpredictable all by itself. We don’t need to add more mess to the already existing and ever growing junk pile. Give your brain some space by freeing it up regularly. Be willing to let go and not react to every little idea or, I’ll make a list of everything that’s floating around in my head (often called a brain dump), and I find this helps thought you have, and make time in your schedule to get rid of whatever’s cluttering up your mind. Most nights I sleep better and wake up with a clearer mind.
