DDoS & IoT - A ‘Perfect’ Storm
I have a brand new article on Tripwire's always worth visiting State of Security this afternoon. It was originally written in response to the Mirai related attacks on Brian Krebs blog and the subsequent 1Tbps blitz on hosting provider OVH. I adapted it this week however following the more attention grabbing attack upon Dyn, a company that few will have of heard of before last Friday but as we are now aware, controls much of the Internet’s Domain Name System (DNS) infrastructure.
One week on and an awful lot has been written and reported, even in the mainstream news media about this topic. The more voices making different points around the same theme (essentially, that the world of IoT must start getting its security house in order) has surely got to be a good thing however. This is my twopence for what it’s worth.
