Scotsman/DDI conference 2023: Data Futures/AI Futures

The full speaker line up has been revealed ahead of the Scotsman/DDI conference on 27 September. This years event focuses on the theme Data Futures, AI Futures, and takes place at the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. Speakers include author and broadcaster Stephanie Hare; Manira Ahmad from Public Health Scotland; Shannon Vallor Baillie Gifford Professor in the Ethics of Data and Artificial Intelligence, University of Edinburgh; Steph Wright, Head of Scottish AI Alliance - plus many others.

New Bayes Centre director

Professor Ruth King, the Thomas Bayes Chair of Statistics has been appointed Director of the Bayes Centre

The Bayes Centre, the University of Edinburgh’s Innovation Hub for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, is delighted to announce that Professor Ruth King (pictured), an international leader in the field of statistics, has taken up the position of Director. Professor King is the Thomas Bayes’ Chair of Statistics in the School of Mathematics and an international leader in the field of statistics, particularly within the areas of statistical ecology and multiple systems estimation. The Edinburgh International Data Facility has launched its new GPU Service to support data processing and Artificial Intelligence for academic and industrial research. TSB is taking applications for fintechs to participate in its third annual TSB Innovation Labs programme – as the bank and Fintech Scotland encourage a new round of fintech collaboration.
