DCAT Week Debrief

Having landed back from his first visit to New York City for DCAT Week ‘22. Tom Kirkpatrick our Head of Client Services summed up his trip as ‘canny’.

DCAT Week is the destination for industry leaders from around the globe and having never previously attended Tom was unsure what to expect. With CPhI Worldwide 2021 under his belt, Tom adapted from attending an exhibition based event to the more formal c-suite surroundings and lobby based networking offered by DCAT.

Using the event to cement connections and make formal introductions Tom enjoyed several conversations with people enjoying their first face-to-face event since pre-covid.

Discovering that informal networking can be just as effective as formal business appointments, Tom found the attendees very receptive to learning more about Lead Candidate. Some familiar faces were kind enough to make introductions and several positive conversations have led to future business opportunities.

Introducing Lead Candidate as a specialist talent partner and being able to share positive client advocacy certainly piqued the interest of c-suite representatives and in Tom’s words "some quality conversations were enjoyed throughout the week."

Summing up his trip, Tom recalls the key themes, namely hiring and new hire retention, people and the talent agenda against a backdrop of unprecedented growth. Private equity funding featured heavily within conversations and there was an air of optimism throughout the week.

Talking about the week, Tom said:

“It was encouraging to see how receptive people are to Lead Candidate and to discovering the way we work. People were very keen to learn more about our purpose led approach to hiring and to discover more about our broad understanding of the sector and appreciation of the talent agenda.”

Now home and with his blisters and ankle healing (ask Tom about his jaunt down 19 flights of hotel stairs), Tom is following up with connections new and old and is looking forward to future industry events and any opportunities where he can talk about Lead Candidate’s approach to politely disrupting recruitment in the pharma and biotech outsourcing space.
