How much should waiters and bartenders earn? Voters in Washington, D.C., will consider getting rid of lower wages dependent on tips on Tuesday, in favor of one minimum wage for restaurant workers. The city’s hourly wage for restaurant workers is currently $3.33; the ballot measure proposes gradually increasing this until it matches the city’s minimum wage for other workers by 2026. Campaigns to boost the minimum wage for those who work for tips are underway in several states; New York’s Department of Labor is studying a similar change, and Michigan might also consider a single-wage ballot later this year. ? The percentage of black employees at JPMorgan Chase has declined for a sixth year in a row, Bloomberg reports, citing figures from the bank's website. 6 年I appreciate the 2nd idea of the day. It’s critical that management set an example for employees. I used to always say to my team, “You don’t have to like everyone you work with but you need to respect them in our environment. This means “Please” and “Thank You” should always be said!”

6 年I am glad to hear restaurant workers will be getting a wage increase in D.C. Unfortunately, to live a quality life in the D.C. metro area one has to earn some serious coin to afford the basic necessities of life. Raising the minimum wage to $15 per hour helps, but still will not allow one to afford a decent place to live in that town.
