Are the days of covid discounts over?
Mike ?? Treasure
I'm pretty good with hotel rates & rewards. With 35 years of experience, I specialize in Marriott/Hilton, securing better rates and more rewards for business travelers & groups—no OTAs, no deposits, just great deals! ??

This photo was taken at the Element by Westin, in Moab UT, Spring of 2021.?I was able to get my Marriott explorer discount, it was about $60.00 per night. ?(Yes, that’s one of the reasons I work in hotels!)
The hotel was very slow and I had this beautiful pool and Jacuzzi pretty much to myself.
Now, two years later, it’s hard to get any discounts!?I quote group rates for my hotels most every day.?Those rates continue to increase! Demand has exceeded the point where we were at, pre-pandemic in 2019.
Revenge Travel is a real thing!?Many folks who have put off traveling for two years are just going, regardless of price.
The hospitality industry continues to see strong resurgence after covid.?According to Anthony Capuano, president and CEO of Marriott International, that evidence is reflected in the company’s fourth quarter and full-year 2022 results.
“Our performance in 2022 was terrific. Just two years after experiencing the sharpest downturn in our company’s history, we reported record financial results,” he said.??

During the fourth quarter, worldwide revenue per available room grew 5 percent compared to 2019, driven by a 13 percent increase in average daily rate, Capuano said.”
Chris Nassetta, Chief Executive Officer for Hilton Hotels also reported similar numbers for Hilton Hotels in 2022.?
So what does all this mean??It appears that prices will continue to increase at most hotels across the US.?If you’re traveling for business, your travel allowances are most likely being adjusted. ??
If you’re traveling for leisure, you might have to budget more than expected.?Prices for fuel, food and hotels are all higher.
If your shopping for hotel deals, just know that our ?rates get higher as we get closer to demand dates.??I would advise booking as far ahead as possible.?You can also call the hotel and ask if there are lower demand dates that you might book. ?Do they have any local specials??We often do.?
Being flexible can help allot. ?Weekends in general are going to be higher in demand.?Usually, our Sunday nights are slowest.?
If I can give you any assistance with better hotel rates, I would be glad to help.?Thanks for your time. ?Mike Treasure?
