Bolashaq Saraiy - Palace of Youth and Future

In K?kshetau, Kazakhstan, children and young people are benefiting from a modern and free after-school learning center. When translated, the name of the training center 'Bolashaq Saraiy' simply means "Palace of Youth and Future."

The institution, which is located in the northern Kazakh city of K?kshetau, is an extracurricular place of learning that provides all children and young people with additional, free access to education outside of school. About 150 instructors teach here, and more than 1.000 children and young people take part in the courses. Everyone can spend their free time on the things that interest them most, using the latest learning technologies!

We spoke with trainer Kazhymukan Karim, who teaches technical disciplines at 'Bolashaq Saraiy'.

How can you imagine classes at 'Bolashaq Saraiy'?

Kazhymukan: "We provide a unique platform for the development of creativity, sports and academics. The general education concept is based on 5 pillars: In addition to scientific-intellectual skills, we promote creativity, sports and adaptation to the environment.

Finally, the last pillar is called 'Recognition of one's home is the path of mental awakening'. Each of these directions consists of concrete workshops and is held according to a fixed schedule."

What is the motivation for students to attend that center in their free time?

Kazhymukan: "They want to gain knowledge, develop themselves and compete, that is their main motivation. In the age of innovation and modern technologies, many Kazakh youth are very aware that additional education is not only necessary, but can be their key to success. It is their voluntary choice to be ahead of their peers by engaging in innovative technology, scientific research or critical-creative thinking.

The young people have access to very modern laboratories at the training center. How do they use them?

Kazhymukan: "The lessons take place in a symbiosis of theory and practice. We go much deeper here than in schools. This practice-oriented training is the answer to the requirements of the external environment. We rely on the principle of learning by doing, because special professional skills are developed in the course of performing real practical tasks." Thanks to the fact that Bolashaq Saraiy is now equipped with advanced technologies, it is easy for trainers to move from theory to practice, on which 70 percent of the educational process is built."

How do the trainers use the new systems and digital media to teach the topics?

Kazhymukan: "The labs are interesting for the instructors because young people get theoretical and practical knowledge and can test all the knowledge acquired in practice. In this way, it becomes easier for children to master the subjects they study. Since the center meets all modern standards, we can also cope with new trends such as 'digitalization'.

Lucas-Nülle GmbH's digital multimedia courses were therefore very important in the choice of equipment and proved to be a great advantage. Because they enable learners to work independently and thus develop themselves further."
