THE DAY WE TOOK FLIGHT

Six months ago today, forty-two remarkable women embarked on a remarkable journey and got their WINGS.

I met Diana Jennings when she was a panelist during a branding event. I met Klara Farkas sometime later through a friend. I thought Klara and Diana should meet. The three of us had coffee. And then another. And, then…we knew we had to work on something together. That was the beginning of WINGS – born out of a desire to collaborate.

WINGS was one-day workshop targeted to professional women with a desire to elevate their career path. The name is an acronym for what it was designed to do:

Wake-up their sense of empowerment

Inspire them to craft the vision for their professional journey

Nourish their minds to stimulate their creative senses

Guide them through the development of their executive presence and voice

Shift their self-perception and outlook for their career

After months of hard work and thorough preparation, Diana, Klara and I guided these forty-two remarkable women through a journey of self-discovery, goal setting, vision development, communication skills, leadership presence and personal brand and image development. Our logo, a simple elegant butterfly, represents transformation. That day was not about changing who these women are at the core, but about helping the best and most beautiful part of them emerge, just as a beautiful butterfly emerges out of a chrysalis.

These women have since embarked in amazing journeys. One was headed to the United Nations, another landed a great position in a tourism publication, a few moved to great positions in several local organizations, and the list goes on. These women are traveling, raising kids, growing, creating, connecting…THRIVING. Coincidentally, March 1st is the first day of Women History Month, and we assure you that we, together, made history. We were all so inspired by the stories shared that day – the day they got their WINGS.

At the end of that amazing day, as we shed our heels and sipped a glass of Champagne, exhausted but exhilarated at the same time, Diana, Klara and I knew that our success was a direct result of the spirit of collaboration we shared. The three of us brought different talents and skills to the table, we all had different styles and ideas, and we all had other responsibilities we were juggling at the same time. But we succeeded because we CARED about each other and had a made a commitment to support each other through this journey, no matter what. We had never worked together before, in fact, we barely knew each other when we got started. The best compliment we received was when some of the women assumed we had been doing this for a number of years. The three of us found a circle of support unlike any other and experienced our own transformation as we also got our WINGS.
