The winter solstice brings reflection, regeneration, and nourishment for our mind, body and spirit and reconnection with what is important in life. For those in political and regional conflict, their wish is peace; those who have lost loved ones, naturally or by devastation as this German Holiday Market, health and wellbeing; those alone this winter, connection, perhaps, and togetherness. We all wish and have desires for basics in life. We all have dreams that take us beyond.
How do we find peace this winter season?
While I can't change the conflict, the lost, the exhaustion, the isolation, I can share what I can ~ these 31 days of tips and thoughts. We can all share what we can with each other. How do we know what others need? We ask. We listen. We stop focusing on our own four walls a few minutes. We connect!
Peace.
Even the words evokes a deep sigh, a gentle smile, perhaps a memory, and hope that times will become easier.
Peace is found only in the moment. If we are remembering a moment in time that was peaceful, that brings peaceful thoughts that are happening ~ in the moment. All we have is this moment.
What can this moment bring?
We can find just one element to be grateful for, in this moment, whether having our basic needs met, a cuddle by our loved one. We can be grateful for this amazing world with its many birds, animals (some living with us), the air we breathe, the fire in the fireplace, the meal we shared. The funny thing about gratitude is it creates peace; a peaceful mind.
While I will share tips for de-stressing the next few postings, today I just want us to be in the moment; mindful.
Take this day, on this winter solstice, and be at peace, yes even despite...
I am grateful for the patients I have cared for, the thousands of providers and professionals, and caregivers, that I have had the honor to support. I am grateful for those I love and for those that bring love into my life. I am eternally grateful the beauty I see all around me.
See! A little bit of a peacefulness is beginning to fill you.
As always, it is an honor and the joy of my life being able to support caregivers!
