Day three at Anthropy

Day three at Anthropy

Day three at Anthropy. The storm has (almost) passed but the debates continue. Amongst all the talk of liminal space (had to look that one up), disinformation, systemic failure and geopolitical turmoil, two positive themes run through the 180-plus panels and keynotes: humanity and hope. Looking back on my frantic scribbles, these are the three pieces of wisdom about ambition, access and generally being a decent human being that have stuck.?

From the wonderful Sir Tim Smit, Eden founder and our generous host: “Do? the thing you love… do the thing that captures the inner child.”?

From Piers Linney, Implement AI: “Ambition is evenly distributed. What we have to fix is access to social capital. We can sprinkle it on to people to change the course of their lives.”?

And finally, from Dr Douglas Board?at Maslow’s Attic, this little piece of brilliance: “Business schools should teach the art of the leaving speech.”?

This is the thing about Anthropy. It’s a vast, ambitious dissection of some of the biggest societal issues we face today, interspersed with small, recognisable moments of magic. You never know what’s going to stay with you – and that’s a fundamental part of the experience. It’s been a blast.?

Huge thanks to John O’Brien and his tireless team for a phenomenal Year 2, in spite of the weather gods.?
