A Day to Serve!

Today is Nestlé’s Day of Service! Nestlé employees from around the U.S. are volunteering with over 100 nonprofits. I spent the morning, starting at 5:30am serving breakfast for more than 150 homeless individuals at @Miriam’s Kitchen. Then the afternoon at La Cocina Together, we’re strengthening our commitment to our communities and helping to fight hunger in our own backyard. #WeAreNestle 

Miriam’s Kitchen operates the only meals program in Washington, D.C. that is open, Monday through Friday, all year long, no matter the holiday or weather emergency.

All of our meals are made with fresh, healthy ingredients. The restaurant-quality food we serve shows our guests that we care. It builds a bridge of trust. And it makes it possible to form a relationship with each individual who comes through our doors.

La Cocina takes innovative approaches to using food as the agent for change can solve social issues such as hunger, unemployment, environmental degradation, and debilitating diseases.

Our concept goes far beyond just offering food to the needy by also offering the necessary tools and resources to overcome poverty and create a better, healthier future for individuals, their families, and future generations. #WeAreNestle

Chef Cheryl Bell?said your team were incredible this morning--making and serving the buttermilk biscuits with sausage or veg gravy, grits/home fries, and the fresh fruit/green salads. Winning compliments from Chef Cheryl is high praise! Also, special shout out to John McIlveen who volunteered in the dining room working directly with our guests.
