A Day of Reckoning is Coming and Soon

Now that vaccines are slowly and painfully making their way across the globe - many are predicting a return to semi-normal times before this year is over. Others are predicting something else: a day of reckoning.

An explosion of civil lawsuits is already underway which legal experts say will tie up the court system for many years to come.

Of course, we will see class action lawsuits claiming that government mask laws violate constitutional and human rights.

But much more is ahead.

Many are asking why governments, and society as a whole, did not prepare - because, yes, the scientific community knew that a pandemic was on its way. Bill Gates, accused by conspiracy theorists of single handedly orchestrating the pandemic, sent out the warning in 2015 to primarily deaf ears.

Politicians and "medical experts" alike fumbled and bumbled their way through the pandemic, at first saying outrageous things such as "It will be over in 2 weeks" then, months later, defending themselves by telling us "the science changes over time."

Today's young infants are born into a bizarre world where all they see are human-like figures wearing masks looking at phones. Gone is the ability to detect human emotion, empathy and caring - creating a scarred future.

Seniors, locked up in so-called "care" homes (many of which lacked any assemblance of real caring) lament that they've lost a precious year of their lives.

A reckoning is coming, not only for officials and people who claim to be experts (who disagreed with each other every step of the way - fueling more fear and outrage), but also among us. The ordinary folk.

Because we'll look back at how we treated our fellow human beings. Did we reach out to connect with the lonely and depressed among us? Did we show kindness and empathy - or did we rush into a grocery store to hoard every inch of toilet paper, pushing everyone near us out of the way?

Did we get caught up in the fear to the point where our ability to love and comfort was ripped from our very fabric, leaving a black hole of indifference?

Did we try to help save the small business around the corner? Or did we mind our own business and allow them to die a slow and painful death. Never to open again.

Did we even cry a tear for the many who have died?

Today, as we finally see a glimmer of hope in this nightmare, there are many of us who feel only anger. Anger at incompetence at the highest levels. Anger at how everything has unfolded.

I will end with a quote from a leading doctor. These words, in my view, say it all.

"If we work as hard to rebuild and distribute the vaccines as much as we did at destroying lives, putting people out of work, crushing hope and reversing societal progress by decades...then, we'll be okay."

Seeing an explosion of civil cases is a no brainer. A day of reckoning... not so much. It will be interesting to get more insight from psychologists / futurists on the emotional impact on babies born just before and during the pandemic. Specifically them being exposed to mask wearers, especially in hospitals and orphanages where they can't gauge emotions from care-giver faces.
