Day One at Turn Agency

Today marks my first day in a new role as Head of Strategy & Design for Turn Agency. It’s a role I am really excited about for a number of reasons:

  • I know these folks and know how they work, what they value and what they want to do. Most of us worked together at an agency here in Portland and have now regrouped (like the Super Friends) at Turn
  • I am a firm believer in their approach of delivering “design-led, tech driven” solutions. As a strategist and content guy, nothing instills confidence more than having the tech chops to inform and back-up your recommendations. Couple that with the application of design thinking for problem solving and you have a combination that’s hard to beat
  • Turn is tech-agnostic, meaning they can and do work on any number of technical platforms, but have particular depth in Sitecore, AEM and Umbraco. Umbraco is new to me but the demos the team has walked me through and the case studies I’ve been diving into are really impressive
  • Everyone knows their role and where they can contribute and stretch. That allows each of us to focus on what we do best while getting the opportunity to add to and strengthen our skillset

I’ve been in this industry for a good while now and have had my share of first days. Some were the beginnings of amazing experiences learning new things and hunkering down with cool people on the agency and client sides. Some have been…something else. At this point in my career I am excited to be part of building something and the potential I see at Turn has my gears…erm…turning. I’m ready to get to work.
