Day One @The Boathouse.

Day One @The Boathouse.

I'm starting a people and culture performance consultancy.

I think there is a lot of work to be done in society. And I believe that our organizations, where we all spend most of our day, have the greatest leverage.

What we can't do there won't help us anywhere. Whether it's the environmentally sustainable transformation of the economy, the expansion of our defense capabilities, the restructuring of our educational system, or the way we interact and debate with each other, none of these things will make sufficient progress unless we improve our organizations. If we try to solve today's problems with yesterday's logic, how can we build a foundation for a joyful tomorrow ever?

I believe that people & culture makes an underestimated contribution to the success of any organization. Or at least could have, should have. And I believe there is untapped performance potential here. Also because this area has recently become more and more focused on well-being and the so-called "soft" factors. Good talent work is not an administrative task and certainly not a wellness task, but requires an investment mentality. This is where I would like to start with The Boathouse Consulting.

My life as a competitive athlete, and even more so my choice of rowing as a sport, has taught me a lot about the contribution and responsibility of the individual to a greater whole, a racing boat. About what it takes to get better, again and again, and more than you thought possible. It has also taught me how small my direct influence is and how big the I shared the boat and learned a lot for later from guys like Christian Jess , Rudy Zerry , Dr. Sebastian C. Schulte and Bj?rn Redlich , as well as a few other fine rowers.

My more than 20 years in the consulting industry, with partners like Andreas Freitag , Jo Marie Farwick , Mathias Stiller , Matthias von Bechtolsheim and Ricardo Distefano , whether on brand issues or ultimately on people issues, most of them in management positions, have given me invaluable experience and insights, some of them brilliant, some of them devastating. But the nice thing about being a consultant is that the big defeats provide a wealth of experience that you can pass on to your clients :-)

My Time at Omnicom University with amazing teachers like Nancy Koehn , Leonard Schlesinger and Jeffrey F Rayport as well as my time as an HR consultant, especially with Maren Freyberg and Dwight Cribb , but also with the whole team at Cribb Executive Search , have given me additional tools for understanding businesses, personnel diagnostics and selection, and payroll budgets as a lever for shaping corporate transformation.

All in all, I feel well equipped and believe that the entire Boathouse can help and that our help is wanted. There are early colleagues working on The Boathouse, and there are clients who want us to work for them.?

And there were some people who helped to build The Boathouse. In addition to some of the companions mentioned above, I would like to mention and recommend my colleagues team mates Ina Neumann and Susanne Dera as well as my sparring partners, Jürgen Schulze-Seeger , Nils Haseborg and my long-time teacher J?rg Pannenb?cker . The last three especially because they are all incredibly good trainers and coaches themselves. Martin R. and Christoph von Planta for their wisdom as experienced management consultants and corporate executives,? as well as Dirk Weyer and my corporate designer Stefan Br?utigam . And Ahmet Ak?n , Marc Schachtel , Larissa Pohl , Mark Boutros , Christian von Thaden , Sarah Douglas , Jill Nykoliation, CPCC and Anika Latif for their time and?amazingly valuable and super diverse feedback.

?The Boathouse is now open for business. Let me know if we can help.

Congrats, Tobi! Great initiative and spot on: Culture is one of, if not THE most important driver for the success of organizations - an accelerator of performance and a catalyst for change, or if done wrong a set of empty words that demotivates your people and makes them look for alternatives. Awesome to now have someone to help teams find the right way forward. Good luck!
