?? The Day LinkedIn Became My Lifeline
Mariam Gogidze
Helping you build an influential Personal Brand on LinkedIn | Turn relationships to leads | Founder @LinkedInAcademy ??????
Hey there,
Let me take you back.
Back to the days when I was a LinkedIn newbie.
A time when I was just another face in the crowd.
Unseen.
Unheard.
But all that was about to change.
Like many of you, I hit roadblocks.
Struggled to find my niche.
Banged my head on the wall after facing rejection and setback after setback.
I even doubted my abilities.
??♀? Was I even cut out for this?
Multiple failures.
But guess what?
Each failure was a lesson.
Each setback, a tiny step forward.
So, I failed and learned from each experience.
Then I found my passion for community building and personal branding.
For a while, I saw little, tiny tiny progress. But I kept on going.
Then everything changed and transformed my career.
Here are few things I've learnt along the way:
Avoid
← Neglecting your online presence.
← Trying to be everything to everyone.
← Chasing trends instead of authenticity.
Instead
→ Define your niche.
→ Share valuable content.
→ Actively engage with your network.
→ Seek opportunities to showcase your skills.
Focus on these strategies for the first 1-3 months:
1. Identify what you want to be known for: Reflect on your values, strengths, motivations, etc.
2. Create a strong LinkedIn profile: Ensure your profile is up-to-date, informative, and aligns with your personality.
3. Start sharing valuable content: Engage in comments, create content, posts, articles, or social media updates that showcase your expertise (+ personal stories).
4. Expand your network: Connect and (re)build your relationships with industry peers, mentors, competitors, potential clients, etc.
5. Seek opportunities to contribute: Volunteer for projects, offer mentorship, or participate in speaking engagements to further build your reputation.
Remember, personal branding is a journey, not a destination. Embrace the process, enjoy the learning, and watch your career grow.
While you're building your brand, don't forget to Engage Smartly.
Forget the one-size-fits-all approach; focus on your crowd.
Allocate your engagement percentages wisely:
50% Ideal client profile,
30% Peers and competitors,
20% Industry movers and shakers.
Happy LinkedIn-ing!
Mariam
