A Day In The Life....NLR Partner Coach - (Day 2)

As any good coach will tell you, plan, plan, plan. So my planning starts the night before. 

First item on the agenda mental and physical exercise... Read one chapter of the book "I'm OK you're OK by Thomas Harris. (A great book for problem solving). Followed by a sequence of yoga stretches sit ups and press ups.

Next up, is following up on conversations with business owners navigating the challenge facing most businesses today... (How to stay in the game, steady the ship and eventually recover and move forward).

One of the conversations I had today was with the owner of a Social Media Agency whose business has had a 22% upturn in the last couple of months and he's feeling confident that will continue.

Although nice to hear, this is clearly not the experience of the majority. I'm using the same principle on myself as I am with my clients. I move away from previously consuming thoughts about what can't be done into the excitement of what can.

As I reflect on the strategy meeting we had at our partner coaches meeting the day before, my excitement was fueled by the knowledge that NLR have a supporting solution that's perfect for charting the strategic steps of business recovery.

Next on the list, social media. Show up, communicate and be present with my contacts letting them know that I'm here to help. 

Apart from my client review, the most important task for the day for me is the content I will be delivering for a workshop coming up with a group of business owners in partnership with the FSB.

'Bounce back' is a term that's being coined by the government and will be at the forefront of thinking for a lot of business owners.

I'm just settling In to get my head around the content and a seven-year-old appears and asks if we can camp out in the tent in the back garden this afternoon... (That wasn't in my plan).

Now I have to box clever..

Brownies are organising a virtual camp night at the end of the month which I happened to mention to her a couple of days earlier.  I have to hand it to her, at 7 years old she understands the value of planning and wants to execute a dry run.

I threw up the pop-up tent, put a table and chairs inside and tell number one son that his little sister has challenged him to a game of cards.. ingenious!

Now back to the content... In a nutshell, we have been working at breakneck speed to adapt our award winning solution to what is imminently required by many small businesses.

Emergency, stability and recovery will be the theme of my delivery and I'm excited about the prospect of being apart of the re-emergence of our business community.

Midday arrives and it's time to play in the garden. Back in at 1.00 pm leaving plenty of time to organise a quick lunch and prepare for my 2 pm meeting.

I had a meeting booked with a client to review their growth plan looking at their progress along with the associated challenges. So 2 p.m. to 3.30 pm. was blocked out.

Had a really good call and was inspired by how the business owners were able to focus in from their circle of concern to their circle of influence and had made some really good decisions on the things that they could control. (Actually wrote 3 pieces of business too). Great result!

Oh well, that’s me signing off and heading for the kitchen.
