Magdalena joined Oxford Biomedica 2 years ago and is part of the Vector Engineering Group within the Platform Research Group: in particular, she performs several research projects for vector purification.??
Tell us about your career journey at Oxford Biomedica. ?
I started as Scientist IV coming from another biotech company where I worked on phage display and protein purification. I was very keen to tackle new challenges and learn all about viral vectors purification. There is so much to investigate that I keep learning every day and I’m loving it!?
What is the best part of your job? ?
There are a few things I particularly love about my job: first, the interactions and collaborations I’ve developed with colleagues are a great source of motivation, especially as we all share the same objective of improving the lives of patients. And second is that daily dose of happiness generating positive results!?
How would you describe the culture at Oxford Biomedica??
I started working at Oxford Biomedica just at the beginning of the pandemic, with all the social difficulties this included. In spite of this, people have always been very open and happy to discuss different scientific topics informally: this has really helped me understand research at the company. It’s been a supportive culture that helped me grow and gain more confidence within the vector purification research team.?
What values do you see demonstrated within your team? ?

I see the three values demonstrated but I am amazed at the level of passion that my teammates show, which is very contagious and motivational. They embrace the challenges of working with very difficult projects with so much energy and positivity!?
What is the best career advice you have ever given/received? ?
?As a general advice, my parents raised me to enjoy everything I do. So in my career, not only do I focus on the final goal but I also enjoy the path to get there. Every day, I take this advice very seriously.?
What would be the most surprising scientific discovery imaginable???
I would love to see the discovery of a green and very cheap energy that can be reached by both developed and developing countries.?
