A Day in the Life of a Relationship and Compliance Officer

Meet Catherine, our relationship and compliance officer! Catherine has worked here at Claire’s for 9 months now and we love working with her! But what is a relationship and compliance officer? I sat down with Catherine to talk all things compliance, and hopefully provide an insight into what it’s really like to work in the industry. We hope you enjoy!

So, for anyone who doesn’t know, what is a relationship and compliance officer?

I like to think I’m the smiley chatty person that anyone approaching Claire’s gets to meet first.?From first contact to first placement and beyond, I’m the one who makes sure candidates are fully compliant and cleared for work in our lovely schools.

What does a typical morning look like for you? What time do you wake up and what time do you arrive to work?

I’m up at 6:45am; have a HUGE mug of tea; walk the dog; see the kids off to school; and then arrive for work to start at 9:30am.

What is the first thing you do when arriving at work?

Emails! I always go through them first thing.

What are some of your daily tasks?

Calling potential new applicants; meeting new applicants; I am the keeper of all paperwork! I also ensure compliance checks are constantly up to date.

What is your work environment like?

Claire’s is like no other place I’ve worked in before. I arrive and it feels like I have a lovely day with my friends.?I love where I work and feel very lucky.

What is your favourite thing about being a relationship and compliance officer?

I am a stickler for rules and very methodical and organised, so the compliance side of things suits me so well!

I love helping people too, so seeing our candidates being cleared and then going out happy in their placements is great.
