Day in the Life of a Partnership Manager, Merchant Acquisition: Jordan Lim

9:30 AM: I have never been a morning person (Largely due to content bingeing at night) so I prefer having the maximum amount of time in bed.

10:00 AM: I enjoy going into the office as it gives me the right frame of mind to focus on work priorities. A little bit biased though since I have a straight bus that gets me there in 15 minutes. A day in the office always starts with a coffee to perk me up. The pantry has been pretty great lately with fresh fruits, snacks and biscuits that tides me till lunch.

10:30 AM: Being in commercial partnerships requires a lot of follow-ups with internal and external stakeholders. The first half of the day would always be spent going through messages, having catch-up calls and replying to Slack messages. Anytime till lunch would probably be squeezed in as my focus time to work on projects that I am currently on.

12:30 PM: Lunches at MoneySmart are a huge fun because of the personalities that are around. I’ve never quite had a lunch that was revolved around work-related matters, making me appreciate the culture that has been built here. Also, a big perk of not working in the CBD is that we’re surrounded by great, affordable food options!

2PM: The second-half of the day is usually where the most happens for myself because of how dynamic the current role is. Just in this year alone, I’ve gotten the opportunity to get together with outstanding partners such as Changi and Google. This could mean a trip to the Google office! Or perhaps a meeting with the KrisFlyer team in the city or visiting the new Grab office. Brainstorming on partnership opportunities is always exciting because every opportunity becomes a project that you own. This also means that I often collaborate across departments to build on the potential of each opportunity.

5:30 PM: Not sure if it's just me, but when evening comes, it feels like the catch-up game begins. This is usually when I get another cup of coffee in the office to power through my to-do list before I finish the day. However, we do have a very flexible culture that prioritises output and quality input.

6:30 PM: Winding down at the office is always nice, especially when we have our All Hands events. The company hosts monthly All Hands sessions to cover not only business related overviews, but also to celebrate wins such as people’s birthdays and appreciations within our teams. The night always closes with a buffet spread, drinks and Karaoke in the office! A more boring day on the other hand would involve me going home to exercise.
