A day in the life of our apprentices – Meet Ben Newton & Michael Winnard
Tremco CPG UK
At Tremco CPG UK, we're committed to shaping the future through innovative approaches and sustainable solutions.
Here at Tremco CPG UK , we are proud to be celebrating National Apprenticeship Week to highlight the hard work and team effort of our high-achieving apprentices.
National Apprenticeship Week takes place from 5th to 11th February 2024. Bringing together everyone across the UK who is passionate about apprentices, this week aims to celebrate the value, benefits, and opportunities that they bring to organisations.
This year marks the 17th year of celebration and offers Tremco CPG UK an opportunity to celebrate the success of our apprentices, training providers, and colleges which we actively collaborate with. We caught up with both Ben Newton and Michael Winnard to find out what a typical day at Tremco CPG UK looks like for them.
Hi Ben, could you tell us how long you have worked for the business?
“I have been an employee of Tremco CPG UK since September of 2022.”
What do you enjoy about working at Tremco CPG?
“I learn new skills every day and I enjoy working with all of my teammates.”
What does your typical day at Tremco CPG look like?
“A typical day consists of a T1 team meeting, then checking over the machinery in our Wigan factory – this can be anything from checking the VAC pumps to checking the oil levels within our ovens. I’m assigned to an engineer as well for project work so I support in various tasks here.”
What are you most proud of, so far in your career at Tremco CPG?
“I take great pride in my work and education, so passing my Electrical theory test at college was a proud moment for me.”

“Before you apply, make sure you research the job role and have an interest in what you are learning.”

“I have been an employee of Tremco CPG UK since May of 2023.”

What does your typical day at Tremco CPG look like?
“A typical day consists of a T1 team meeting, then checking over the machinery in our Wigan factory – this can be anything from checking the VAC pumps to checking the oil levels within our ovens. I’m assigned to an engineer as well for project work so I support in various tasks here like installation of sockets, and work within the engineer storage room.”
What are you most proud of, so far in your career at Tremco CPG?
“I take great pride in my work and education, so when I received a distinction in my health and safety course at college, I was over the moon!”
What advice would you give someone else thinking about enrolling in an apprenticeship course?
“I would always recommend trying to gain some experience in the field that you are applying for a role within. Four years is a long time, if you don’t enjoy something – so knowing the role before you apply is my tip.”
Thanks for chatting with us, both. If you want to understand more about our apprenticeship programme, please reach out to the UK HR team.
