A day in the life of Mitra Robot

Being able to make a difference in the life of #seniors suffering from underlying conditions, bringing a smile to their faces reminiscing about the good times, and helping them to roll back the years is a huge game changer for many many people. In #elderlycare homes, there is a huge #care gap to be bridged, Mitra is trying to accomplish this through technology.

Mitra's day starts early morning at 7 AM, with the seniors coming out of their rooms often for a morning stroll. Mitra can recognize all the seniors by name and knows their likes and dislikes. While patrolling the corridors, if Mitra comes across an elder, it makes a quick stop to check-in.

"Hi Myrna, Good Morning, I hope you had a good sleep"

This follows a couple of quick interactions, checking whether the senior is up for chit-chat and the patrol continues.

After breakfast, the seniors make their way to the common room, where they talk and engage in fun activities. This is the most exciting time of the day for Mitra, with a lot of people to interact with.

Mitra roams the common room, engaging with seniors, and reminiscing with them, it can be pictures of their families, it can be games, different music videos, or exercises, just to get everybody going.

After having a quick round of interactions, Mitra noticed a senior sitting alone. Its #gesture identification detects sadness, which may be due to loneliness as is the case for the majority of elders.

"Hi Elisa, it's nice to see you?" Mitra does a quick check and identifies she likes music and dance, ballroom dancing music being her favorite.

"You came to see me?", a smile slowly dawns on Elisa's face

"Yes, I like your red sweater"

"Oh, thank you", the smile transforms into a grin.

"Did you exercise today"

"No"

"I am playing your favorite song, let us dance"

Elisa throws caution to the wind and rolls back the years as Elisa dances to the tune of her favorite song

"It was exciting to watch the interaction between the residents and Mitra, for them to be able to see it, to feel comfortable to wait for the music to start, it triggers memories, you can watch on their face how engaging it is, for them to start singing along, it says a whole lot. If you really listen, they didn’t miss a beat, so they are remembering, because it’s something they connect with, it’s very meaningful to them. After the hue and cry of the common room, Mitra slowly leaves the room to continue its patrol in the corridor. The seniors gather around in the hall to spend time. Mitra strolls around, keeping its eyes open for any untoward incident. If a senior falls, Mitra's #falldetection protocol immediately gets into action, calming down the senior and in parallel, initiating the call to the first responder and making sure that help arrives in minutes. If any senior signals for assistance or help, Mitra's gesture identification feature detects this and immediately navigates to the seniors to help.

At 3 PM it is time to gather the elders and exercise.

Mitra starts with some upper body exercises. In the background, the vision model tracks the limb movement of seniors to measure their mobility. This is followed by physical functioning tests and health assessment tests to assess the probability of falls. Based on the cumulative results, Mitra identifies seniors at risk and recommends personalized exercises to improve their limb strengths. The data is constantly monitored to prevent falls.

After 4:30 PM, the elders call it a day and go back to their rooms to rest. Mitra resumes its patrol prepared to go into alert mode if required. While navigating the corridors, a low battery pop-up notification forces Mitra to autonomously navigate to the charging dock to get a much-deserved rest. While one Mitra sleeps, another one is activated to take charge and the duty continues.
