My name is Jemmarie Ann V. Bocalbos, I help people to develop their better self, I help them to improve their product and services, and I help people share themselves and their ideas to the world to make it a better place. In doing so I also help them get known and increase their sales. I call myself a Multimedia Marketer for short.
When I was a child I already loved arts and craft. I lived near a wet market and I am able to buy some cheap raw materials for arts and craft. I created handmade accessories and sold them at school and became a raw material supplier for my classmates who were also interested in creating handmade accessories. I also helped out my grandparents’ grocery store and my mom’s small sari-sari store at home during my free time but I was yet to know that I was on my way to becoming a Multimedia Marketer.
I’ve always loved being creative by drawing, designing and writing. In sixth grade I concentrated on honing my drawing skills due to my love for gaming and anime and I was also surrounded by supportive friends. This lead me to choose Multimedia Arts as my college course.
When I was in college I was inspired by professors, who share their passion through teaching. Becoming an was something at the back of my mind, but early on I felt like I still had nothing to share because I had no experience.
Once I graduated and I took on my first office job as a web developer for the business development department of a Multi-Level Network Marketing company. It was a great learning experience and I was able to pick up a few marketing related things. Eventually I discovered Hubspot’s free Inbound Marketing Certification which I took up.
2 years later and 3 months later, I wanted to do more and I wanted to apply what I learned in Marketing so I applied for a Marketing positions. I eventually landed a Digital Marketing Manager position for a women shoe brand.
It was a roller coaster ride jumping from one job title to the other but it was fun. I enjoyed absorbing many learnings from my supervisor; the CEO of the company.
After 7 months, I was beyond thrilled and wanted to push myself further and see where I could go and that was when I tried to become a full-time freelancer.
Unfortunately, that didn’t work out too well for me. 3 months after resigning, my savings are depleted and I still did not have any source of income. I accepted short project-based jobs but got scammed and basically, it just was not working out. I needed to earn money to live and I wanted to help my family who was undergoing a crisis during that time (My sister was diagnosed with Colon Cancer).
It was then that I decided to go back to become an office based worker but I didn’t want to stop at that. I took every opportunity I can during my free time to help people build their business whether it was for the design side or the marketing side.
It was then that I decided that I enjoyed working as long as it was related to design and marketing and as long as my personal mission and vision is aligned with the people I am working with.
Today, I am a full-time office based job as a Creative Design Specialist. I am still doing work related to my college course but aside from that, I’m also a part-time instructor for Creative Nation Academy. A contributor for Social Media Academy, an admin for Social Media Manager and Growth Hackers and I take freelance works related to design and marketing.
My background in Multimedia and Marketing has developed my creativity and communication skills combined. A perfect combination for businesses in my opinion.
I don’t have a fix schedule since I take opportunities as they come but here is a snapshot of my weekday schedule for this past few months. Honestly I am very thankful for my mother supports me and still take care of me and majority of the housework even if I’m already an adult. This gives me a lot of time and opportunity to concentrate on my career.

9:30 am – Play with my dog
10 am – 1pm – Multi-task eating and working on my freelance projects

What do you like most about your job or business?
What I like the most about this path that I took in my career is the fact that it keeps me motivated to learn and be curious. The design and marketing industry are both fast paced industries which evolves a lot in a short period of time together with technology. There is always something new to learn.
I also love being able to share my learnings and experiences.
I am scared of being forgotten after I am gone. We have to understand that humans are only mortal creatures and eventually we will reach the end of our lifespan. I’ve realized that the way I can leave my legacy is by sharing.
I share my experiences, thoughts, insights and what I am learning with other people through the power of social media.
Favorite social media channels, and why?
My favorite Social Media as of now is Facebook. It is very flexible and all sort of content can be shared from text to images to videos. I am the kind of person who like sharing all sorts of things and Facebook enables me to do that.
What is your favorite quote and why?
My mantra is “Think Positive” and Nike’s slogan “Just do it”. Growing up I was mostly pessimistic although people often say I don’t sound or look like a pessimistic person now. That is because I kept on practicing and repeating the “think positive” quote. Things are not always rainbows and butterflies but still if you put in effort to see the good things and to be thankful, life will definitely change for the better.
I also like the “Just do it” mantra. I believe it’s better to do something than regret not doing it later on.
