Day in the life at Genflow with Ashley Kjellin, Lead Apparel Designer
08:00 - Make coffee at home and read the news on my phone.
09:00 - Check messaging channels such as e-mail, Slack, and Asana to see any new messages and company announcements.
10:00 - Touch base with product developers about any new assignments and discuss completion dates. Check-in with our freelance garment tech if she is with us on the day to see how we can collaborate.
11:00 - 13.00 - Pick up on the current projects that I am working on. Normally either designing a new collection for a Genflow creator or tech packing (a construction manual for the factory for each garment) designs that are ready to go into production so that we can get our first samples.
16:00 - Check Asana to see if anything has come up during the day that needs attention on the same day. This could be for example an update to a design as requested by a client. Therefore I would update the CAD (Computer-Aided Design, a.k.a. sketch) on the collection line sheet for the client to see.
Or for example, a design edit will be made based off of our sample fitting, so I would open the original tech pack I made and update it for the factory to follow and for our record.

17:00 - 18:00 - At the end of the day I see if I have a task that I could tick off my list that is relatively quick compared to designing a new collection or tech packing.?
This could be designing packaging or labeling.
During this time when needed, I also like to create trend reports and do research into what's going on in the apparel industry from current trends to new innovations.
19:00 - After work, I try to make time to go to a yoga class or go for a walk with my husband.
