What enticed you to work for the waste industry?
A: I have a passion for the environment and know that working for a prestigious company such as EnviroServ it gives me the opportunity to help clean the environment in ways I would not be able to do, as an individual.
What qualifications did you need for the role?
You need to be multi-disciplined in various fields such as fleet management, plant and equipment management, safety management, quality management, management and people skills, commercial and business analyses skills.
You must understand the various laws and regulations governing the waste management sector.

What does your typical day look like?
A typical day starts off running progress reports for multiple, multi-disciplinary projects and having daily progress meetings with various clients to coordinate and make sure that the projects are on-track and within budget. I cross check the data within the progress reports against invoices to ensure values, tonnages and rates are correct. I track projects against the project scope and provide high level summaries of project progress to various role players within the organisation and analysis on project profitability.
What are the biggest challenges of the job?
Running multiple projects at the same time and ensuring that all the resources are managed and utilised to their maximum capacities.
What are the biggest rewards?
Along with knowing that my efforts are helping the environment and our planet, the biggest reward to me is knowing that a project has been completed successfully - safely, on-time, within budget and at the correct margins.
Do you have any advice for someone who wants to work in your field within the waste industry?
Have a passion for what you do, accept the challenges every day, have a positive attitude and enjoy every moment as your efforts help our planet.?
