Day in the Life: Celebrating the People of MYR Group
Editor’s note: From our project managers and construction managers to safety and estimating departments, MYR Group could not succeed without its hard-working and talented people. Every role matters and each person contributes to the overall success of our companies. We highlight several of these individuals and their roles throughout the year in our Day in the Life series. Here are some highlights from our most recent interviews.
Construction Manager
Hassan El Badaoui is a construction manager for Powerline Plus Ltd. , our subsidiary based in Toronto, Canada. He joined the company in 2019 as a billing coordinator, and through dedication and acquired expertise, ascended to his current role.
“The moment a person has the ownership and dedication, Powerline Plus recognizes the person and work. Even if you think you are in the shadows, they view everyone as valuable,” Hassan said.
He works alongside and coordinates with many departments including design, estimating and construction to ensure projects are executed efficiently and safely.
We asked him what a typical day looks like, why construction management is essential to the company’s operations, about his leadership style and what he loves most about his job.
Safety Manager
Clint Spencer has worked in safety for MYR Group for 14 years. As a safety manager for Sturgeon Electric Company, Inc. in Colorado, Clint has witnessed tremendous growth in health and safety and the company’s commitment to advancing safety practices.
“We always tell everybody they have a voice. If they see something unsafe, stop the work and get a hold of me or my team, and we’ll come out and work with them to come up with the best, safest solution. I’ve seen the shift since I’ve started that our crews use us more than they used to and feel empowered to call us,” Clint shared.
