A Day in the Life of A Case Manager | Ronald Godoy

A typical day in the life of a working professional varies from person to person. But working within the field of ABA therapy as a BCBA or Behavior Therapist is truly a unique experience!

One of our Los Angeles Case Managers, Ronald Godoy, will give us a behind-the-scenes look into a day in the life of a BCBA. From kicking off his day to navigating through the demanding tasks, he'll show us how a CSH team member thrives.

The Morning Routine

What does your typical morning look like?

One of the first things I do before initiating my day is to get my daily morning run and get the blood pumping and body moving. I have breakfast and look over any emails, calls, or messages I might have missed or require immediate attention. Once that’s done, time to get my bag and hit the road.?

How do you motivate yourself for the day?

Every day is a hype day where I look forward to attending my kiddo’s sessions and being able to interact and continue helping them achieve their utmost potential and goals. I love working with kids and being able to help them grow hypes me up each and every day.?

What is a typical day for you working at the clinic and in-home sessions?

I always start off by checking in with my management team first to see if there are any updates that require my attention or if they require assistance with any matter that they need help with.?

Most of my day is in the field and roaming the many different cities in LA. I try to cluster myself around the area for the day and attend all my kiddo’s sessions that I have in that area.?

I interact with the kiddo’s, therapists, and parents in the home sessions and ensure that goals and programs are targeted and addressed.?I always communicate with my therapist and ensure to address any questions or concerns they might have, and get an overview of how the kiddos are doing.?

How do you overcome feeling stressed or overwhelmed by the tasks that may lay ahead of you?

I try to take things day by day and don’t let myself get overwhelmed. If there is something I couldn’t get to or finish today, I make sure to set aside time the next day to finish it off.

Also, I always communicate and interact with my management team if there is something I require assistance with or can't get to at the moment. I know I can count on my team to help me out in my time of need.?

Being communicative, organized, and managing your time are the three main components in order to prepare yourself for success! And remember it is ok to ask for help if you need it!?

The Night Routine?

How do you unwind for the night and practice self-care after clocking out?

As soon as I get home, I spend time with my family. I talk with my wife about how her day was, having a family dinner and spending time playing with my two daughters.? Nothing can be more important than giving your family the necessary time they deserve when we come back from work.?

How do you maintain work-life balance for yourself?

I always tell myself and my family that the moment we walk in through our front door after the workday, all work-related things are set aside and will be attended to until the next workday.?
