Day In The Life Of An AWS Professional Services Data & Machine Learning Engineer
Title/Professional Services team: Data & ML Engineer (Consultant), Data & Analytics US West SDT
Tell us about yourself: I grew up in San Diego, then moved to the Bay Area for college, during which I interned for AWS Professional Services. After graduation, I came back to AWS full-time and have been here for the past two years. During my free time, I enjoy hiking, running, trying new coffee and food spots, and reading. I’ve also recently learned how to crochet and have made my friends crocheted bucket hats.
Tell us about your role: I implement data solutions for customers, anything ranging from setting up data lakes to building data processing pipelines to creating machine learning models.
What is your typical day- Morning/noon/afternoon (Special activities, responsibilities, fun facts)?

Morning usually starts with stand-ups with my project team. I continue working from home in the mornings, make myself lunch, then I’ll head into the office in the afternoons if any of my teammates are going in as well. Wednesdays I play on the coed corporate soccer team Amazon has in SF – the team taught me how to play soccer!
What do you like most about working for AWS? Did you have any inspiring moments?
I like that AWS is so innovative – I get exposed to a lot of new up-and-coming technologies and concepts working here. I also really like how willing people are to talk to you – I feel like you could reach out to anyone with a question and they would get back to you, even if you’ve never met before.
What is your favorite leadership principle?and why??Learn and be curious: I love the ability to learn new things on the job, and feel like learning is strongly encouraged especially in my role.
