Day of Infamy
It was April 19th – a day like any other day – but soon the ordinary morning transformed into a lifetime of sorrow. They were children, a room full of toddlers, singing songs, eagerly awaiting their snacks, then, their world changed.
Glass shattered, bricks tumbled down, and tiny bodies flew across the room. A bomb destroyed their innocence. A bomb destroyed our comfortable Oklahoma and the nation as a whole’s existence.
I feared I’d never recover. I wished it all away. The reality was it had happened.
More than a decade has passed. The site is hallowed ground. Hearts are still heavy, but I refuse to spend my life in fear. I breathe. I laugh. I remember. I honor. I am still here, and I will do well in their memory.
