Walking…
A very simple movement, so easy, so common…
A movement, we all, well most of us all are very much used to, it comes naturally to us. You just have to stand up, move your feet and start walking…
Few years back, I had a slip disk, right leg got paralyzed, had a foot drop.
Life turned upside down, blank, dreams got shattered…
Being confined to the bed, even for basic necessities, I was depended on family.
Multiple thought passed the mind.
Why me?
Why now?
What will I do now?
What will happen with my life?
What will happen to my parents?
Will I ever walk again?
Will I ever drive?
How will I play football?
How are the family taking it?
How, what why, when…
Questions… more questions… even more questions…
No answers… blank faces… worried faces… red wet eyes…
Two choices…
Remain same… curse the fate… keep crying…
OR
Get up… fight back… make a life…
We got up, prepared for a life… We went for an operation. Post the operation, I slowly started standing, and then walking, first with support, after two years without support.
Again emotions… again thoughts… again doubts…
Will I be able to do it?
Will I be like before?
Pain… Emotional…
Pain… Physical…
Pain… Psychological…
Pain… Pain… Pain…
To teach a child to stand and walk is a natural process, to teach a grown person to stand and walk is a painful process.
By putting my feet on the floor, I had painful sensations, as if someone has put current in my feet, to hide the pain, to stand without support was very painful.
The pain was momentary, the challenges were temporary, the struggle was difficult…
The journey was difficult, painful, emotionally, psychologically, financially.
Today I walk, I run, I drive… lead a normal life
The things which got me going was my family, our willingness to fight, our determination to move ahead, to hold each other, to be for each other.
There were silent prayers, there were unshed tears, but amidst all this, was a desire to stand again, to walk again, run again…
Calm…
Faith…
Hope…
Trust…
Pray…
Few words, four letters, works miracles…
Life is unpredictable, we all face difficult and challenging situations, it is important to know where you need to go and that you have to be there, the ways will automatically come to you…
