The day I left the company we started

Leaving an adventure that took so much efforts to create is not easy, but it is the right time for me today. Remaining a Nexthinker forever I have decided to take a break from my full-time activities at Nexthink. I will still be around as a shareholder, friend and advisor but no more involved as deeply and continuously in the operations and strategy. Life is made of changes, transitions, and sometimes revolutions. Definitely a significant one for me today, but well thought and planned for the best of everyone involved.

I am so thankful to everyone who allowed me to live such an amazing journey; co-founders Pedro & Patrick, current and past Nexthinkers as well as all our customers, board members, investors, partners, advisors and friends. You fueled me over the last 15 years with your continuous passion, endless energy, innovative ideas, permanent endurance, wise advises and countless support. Without you all the adventure would not have been the same. We played hard, we got upset but always with respect and trust. A deep thank you and admiration for everything we did together.

You can imagine I am leaving the Nexthink family with unforgettable memories of successful times as well as tough situations. I can’t share them all here, there are too many! Let me simply name some of you that are part of my greatest Nexthink recalls. You inspired me (and still do), supported my crazy choices, believed in me (perhaps still do), made a difference with your actions, disagreed with me (and positively changed my perspective), took risk with me, were here to celebrate success but also to overcome difficulties, or simply here as a true friend:

Before I on board new exiting adventures let me share 2 short stories with you here. Two stories that are representing very well what I experienced during my time at Nexthink and how I see the future of this amazing company. First story is about altitude and the second one about attitude.

Imagine we left Everest Basecamp at 5’364m in 2006, where would Nexthink be today. How much higher? The answer is ONE HUNDERED times higher than base camp. A 100 times higher equals to reaching the ISS space station orbital altitude. We have multiplied by 100 our altitude compared to when we left base camp back in 2006. 100x customers (from 10 to 1000), 100x funding ($1.6mio to $160mio), 100x employees (5 to 500), 100x revenue and valuation too! I am leaving the Nexthink rocket as it is passing by ISS at full speed. We shot for the moon, today I have no doubt that Nexthink is on its journey to reach the stars and be one of them! We are hiring to get there..

My second story is about attitude. When I was 20 I met someone very special who accomplished a lot. I remember very well what he told me that day: “when you look back into your life, into what you realized it is not about how high you went. It’s about the way you did it, about how played”.

Attitude matters more than altitude! I’ve always tried to keep this in mind. It’s not only about how high you go, about winning or losing. Consider the way you get there, act according to your beliefs, behave matching your emotions.
