A Day in the Future Metaverse

A day in the not-so-distant but future Metaverse...

07.00 AM: Waking up and taking the dog for a walk. It's a nice and quiet morning, but I feel like chatting. So, let me activate my GearX hud to see who's awake. A quick "GM Frens" shows me Eddy is already up, so I add him in my hud while I'm walking. I can see he's making breakfast for the kids and I tell him about my interview later today. We say goodbye and I swipe him from my hud as I pull up my agenda and see I need to hurry.

08.00 AM: I bike my son to school and see in my hud I've filled another NFT bucket with body activity, adding another NFT to my collection that will unlock a new game level, or I can choose for a discount. My son loves this game, so I'll just take the level.

08.30 AM: Time for my Daily DAO Meeting for Meta. After their collapse, the only way to stay alive was to turn Meta into a DAO. All Meta-token holders are free to join de daily meeting to vote on proposals. Today one proposal on hud privacy, an ongoing topic, but we seem to get to an approval point soon.

09.00 AM: First meeting of the day is in Decentraland, I'm meeting with an NFT artist who is artistically challenging the Motion-Print using reversed AI so it looks like avatars are moving forward, while they go forward, it's the movie Tennet all over again. The artist owns a piece of land, and I can only enter using the NFT he dropped in my wallet and apparently turns into a POAP once inside, supercool!

10:00 AM: Next meeting is with the team, I pull up my new Adidas jacket, super retro and super rare, found it on some obscure marketplace that sells '90s wearables. The first time I'm wearing it, I need to add it to the filters in my hud. The NFT contract pop-up tells me there is additional utility for wearing it frequently, adding new retro color combinations. So I'm making it the primary filter.

"Let me drop the presentation in", I say, so everyone has it in their hud. I step into the presentation and walk to part 1 about last month's results. I select the first bar in the graph as I stand next to it, it shows a huge increase in community engagement on MetaDis (the successor of Discord). Since we added the AI to the avatar's MotionPrint, all avatars move so much more naturally, and the best part is, they all move in a unique way. What felt like an old-school Teams meeting on the laptop, now almost feels like a real-life conversation.

11.00 AM: I'm joining the class about managing a team in the Metaverse. It's hard to keep up with all the possibilities and I want to learn how to use it to coach people towards their best selves. Gamification of managing is big now, you can earn personal tokens by achieving your goals. These tokens can be swapped for crypto or NFTs, it's a combined personal coaching and investment plan. Seems beneficial for both the employer and the employees, but I'm somewhat skeptical, so this class should give me a better idea of this all.

12:00 AM: Lunchtime... I'm filling my body activity bucket again while walking to the shop drop. Here I pick up the lunch I ordered earlier, it's been handed to me by the MacDude, you know, the MacDonalds avatar they introduced. He looks crazy funny, but the idea is cool. His digital clothing turns into your clothes so you know it's your turn, who even thinks of that!
