Day 93: The Importance of Perspective ??

I recently read a great book: "The Great Mental Models" by Shane Parrish.
One of the key concepts struck me deeply.
Our failures to update from interacting with reality often spring from three things:
1. Not having the right perspective or vantage point.
2. Ego-induced denial.
3. Distance from the consequences of our decisions.
There's a story that illustrates the first point.
Two young fish are swimming along.
They happen to meet an older fish swimming the other way.
He nods at them and says, "Morning, boys. How's the water?"
The two young fish swim on for a bit.
Eventually, one looks over at the other and asks, "What the hell is water?"
This anecdote, from David Foster Wallace, highlights how we can be oblivious to the most obvious realities around us.
We often fail to notice what's right in front of us.
Our perspective is limited.
We might be so immersed in our own environment that we don't see it clearly.
This made me reflect on how important it is to gain new perspectives.
To question our assumptions.
To be aware of our surroundings and the realities we might be missing.
It reminds me to step back and consider things from different angles.
To avoid letting ego cloud my judgment.
And to stay connected to the consequences of my decisions.
